[Fitz had told himself that he wasn't going to go downstairs again; that he wasn't going to let himself see Ward anymore because once had been enough. He'd made his point and that had been enough.

And yet..here he was again, sitting on the ground with his back to the barrier, keeping his hands busy by fussing with the tablet that controlled the rooms settings as he tried to figure out exactly why he had let himself come down here again. He hadn't let Ward know he was there yet, too scared to go any further now that he was actually downstairs once more. It was just that the combination of Jemma being back and everything else that was going on was making his head throb and everything hurt.

His mind. His heart.

All he wanted was for things to be normal again.

The scientist drew his knees up as he set the tablet on the floor, adjusting the barrier so Ward could see out. Fitz kept his back to the other, arms wrapping around his knees as he buried his face against them.

[It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

He's in SHIELD's good graces (again, this is getting to be a habit) which means he's at Kara-Madame Masque's apartment in the city. Snow falling, warmth, it feels even more domestic then it ever has. He always stays here when he's in town. It's a safe house he actually feels safe at.

Maybe that's why he's got turkey, stuffing, trimmings all in plastic bags. Gordon Ramsey eat your heart out, but he's learning to prepare for moments like this. Trying to impress her.
